Collector’s Notes
This Machop is a 1st Edition Common card from the Japanese set Bonds to the End of Time (DPt2), released in 2008. The 1st Edition stamp on the bottom left corner confirms its place in the initial print run of this classic Diamond & Pearl era set. Even as a common card, it’s a wonderful piece of TCG history.
The artwork by Midori Harada is particularly striking and atmospheric. Harada is known for a distinctive, painterly style that often uses rich textures and dramatic lighting. This illustration places Machop in a rugged, mountainous region, with a winding river and steep cliffs. The art gives a sense of scale and isolation, portraying Machop as a tough creature thriving in a harsh, rocky environment.
As a Friend of Geopik, this card’s connection to our theme is all about that environment. Fighting-type Pokémon are consistently depicted in the TCG as training and living in remote, mountainous areas. The rugged terrain, sheer cliffs, and solid rock of the mountains provide the perfect natural gym for these Pokémon to build their incredible strength. This Machop, standing resolute in its rocky home, is a perfect visual representation of how the geological world is the crucible in which strength is forged.
