Collector’s Notes

This Heliolisk is a 1st Edition Holo Rare from Wild Blaze (XY2), the same 2014 set as the Carbink and Florges in our collection. The 1st Edition stamp marks it as a desirable piece from the set’s initial print run. The card features the classic XY-era “cosmos” holographic pattern, which adds a beautiful shimmering texture to the background of the art.

The artwork by 5ban Graphics is wonderfully atmospheric. Their 3D-style illustration places Heliolisk amidst ancient, weathered ruins in a desert landscape. This environment is a perfect fit for a Pokémon that draws its power from the sun. The crumbling stone pillars and arid mountains in the background create a strong sense of history and place.

As a Friend of Geopik, this card’s connection to our theme is twofold. First, the stunning background artwork, filled with ancient ruins and rocky desert terrain, is a perfect visual fit for a geological collection. It evokes a sense of deep time and the endurance of stone. Second, Heliolisk’s lore offers a fascinating link to our “Astrogeology” exhibit. Much like the Pokémon Solrock, Heliolisk is a living solar panel, converting sunlight into energy. It is a biological representation of the immense power of our solar system’s star, the same power that drives the geological rock cycle on our planet.
