Collector’s Notes
This Excadrill is a Holo Rare from Dream League (SM11b), a special subset released in 2019 during the Sun & Moon TCG era. Dream League is one of the most beloved modern sets, famous for its beautiful “Character Rare” cards which depict Pokémon alongside their trainers from the games. While this Excadrill is a regular Holo Rare, its inclusion in such a celebrated set makes it a cherished piece for collectors.
The artwork by SATOSHI NAKAI is incredibly energetic. Nakai is known for action-packed illustrations, and this card is a prime example. Excadrill is shown bursting through the ground, sending shattered rock flying. The background is a blur of light and earthen tones, giving the impression of immense speed and force. The vertical holographic pattern of the era cuts through the art, enhancing the sense of dynamic, explosive movement.
For the Geopik collection, Excadrill is an absolute cornerstone. Its design and lore are a direct fusion of biology and geology. As the “Subterrene Pokémon,” its body has evolved for a life of drilling and excavation. The Pokédex entry is a perfect thematic fit, stating that its steel drill can pierce iron plates and is used in tunnel construction. This explicitly links Excadrill to mining, civil engineering, and the practical application of geological work, making it one of the most direct representations of our theme in the entire Pokémon world.
