Collector’s Notes
This Pikachu is a promotional card released in a special blister pack called Pikachu & New Friends, which was designed to celebrate the new Generation 8 Pokémon from the Galar region. The artwork by Misa Tsutori is enchanting, portraying a happy Pikachu waving in a mystical forest illuminated by a full moon and glowing, bioluminescent plants and fungi.
As the official Museum Mascot, this card offers a wonderfully strong thematic link to our collection. The prominent full moon in the artwork connects Pikachu to powerful geological and cosmic forces. The moon’s gravitational pull governs the Earth’s tides, which are a primary driver of coastal erosion and sedimentation. Furthermore, certain minerals and rocks exhibit fluorescence, glowing under specific types of light, much like the fantastical plants in the illustration. This card beautifully represents the magical and mysterious side of the natural, geological world.
