Collector’s Notes
This Aerodactyl is the Reverse Holo Rare version from the Japanese set Pokémon Card 151. While it shares the same masterful artwork by Shinji Kanda as the standard rare, this card has a special holographic treatment. Instead of the art box being holographic, the illustration itself is flat, while the entire surrounding card surface—the text boxes and borders—is covered in a shimmering holographic layer. For the Pokémon Card 151 set, this pattern features a unique and beautiful design of Poké Balls. This “reverse” treatment makes the stunning artwork pop and creates a completely different visual experience.
As the original Fossil Pokémon, revived from Old Amber, Aerodactyl remains a top-tier Geological Pokémon. This Reverse Holo variant is particularly desirable as it offers a more exclusive version of an already iconic card. Its TCG typing as Colourless (representing Flying-types) and its unique evolution mechanic are wonderful nods to its origins, making this a truly special piece of palaeontological TCG history.
