Collector’s Notes
This Nihilego-GX is a powerful card from the Sun & Moon era, representing a special class of extradimensional Pokémon known as “Ultra Beasts.” These creatures were a major feature of the Alola region’s lore and had a distinct, alien aesthetic. The artwork by 5ban Graphics captures this perfectly, depicting the ethereal, jellyfish-like creature floating in a dark, energy-filled space.
Nihilego is a premier and fascinating Geological Pokémon. While its TCG type is Psychic (representing its Poison and otherworldly nature), in the video games it is a dual-type Rock/Poison Pokémon. Its body is described as being made of a substance similar to glass. Glass is a non-crystalline, amorphous solid, and its natural form, obsidian (volcanic glass), is a type of igneous rock. Nihilego is, in essence, a sentient, parasitic being made of a glass-like geological material, making it one of the most unique specimens in our collection.
