Collector’s Notes
This Lunatone is a fascinating specimen for the museum. While the card is in Japanese, its numbering (086/193) corresponds to the international Asian release of the Paldea Evolved set, which uses a different master list from the native Japanese sets. This makes it a unique International Specimen. The artwork by Oucidd is stark and beautiful, using a geometric, minimalist style to depict Lunatone floating in a desert canyon under a starry sky.
Lunatone is a top-tier Geological Pokémon. A Rock/Psychic type in the games, its lore, as confirmed by its Pokédex entry, states that it is a creature from space that arrived on a meteorite. This directly connects it to the science of meteoritics and astrogeology. It is, quite literally, a living piece of extraterrestrial rock. The TCG represents its Rock-type nature with the consolidated Fighting type. A brilliant piece of game-to-lore translation is seen in its “Luna Cycle” ability, which requires its counterpart, Solrock, to be in play—a fantastic nod to their paired, celestial origins.
