While the GeoPik Museum is primarily focused on the art and science of Pokémon cards, we occasionally acquire artefacts of profound significance to the collection’s story. Today, we are cataloguing one such item: a simple paper cup, a treasured souvenir from the curator’s first journey to Japan.
This is not just any cup; it is a relic from a flight aboard the Scoot Airlines “Pikachu Jet TR”, a commercial aircraft themed entirely around our beloved mascot.

Curator’s Analysis
Every specimen in our collection represents a journey—a search, an acquisition, and a trip to its new home in the museum. This cup is the ultimate symbol of that process. It represents the grandest of journeys: a pilgrimage to Japan, the birthplace of Pokémon. Acquired at 30,000 feet, this artifact connects the passion for collecting with the spirit of global adventure.
The artwork itself is delightfully cheerful, featuring a happy Pikachu being lifted by a colourful bunch of balloons. This “Flying Pikachu” is a recurring and beloved variant, and it’s a fitting theme for an airline collaboration.
While a simple paper cup may seem out of place, its connection to the GeoPik theme is surprisingly deep. The flight it came from was a journey over vast geological formations—oceans and continents. The paper itself is a product of the earth, and the very pigments in the ink have mineral origins. Most importantly, it is a tribute to the “Pik” in GeoPik, a celebration of the mascot that provides the spark and energy for our entire geological collection. It serves as a beautiful reminder of the real-world joy that this hobby can bring.
